Ever since I was about 3 years old I was obsessed with wanting to become a Police Officer, my family to this day finds this kinda crazy that after all these years I still want to be a Police Officer. Who knows what inspired 3 year old me to want to do that and to hold on to that idea years later. I suppose I liked the idea of helping people and putting more good into the world than there was when I got here. The image of the typical Police Officer has changed since I was 3. These days there is so much hatred for cops, but just like any other profession there are good workers and bad workers. It seems the media only talks about all the bad Police officers and not the good ones, which leads people to hold a grudge against all cops. The majority of them just want to help people though, they don’t want to harass you or make your day harder. They are there to protect and serve the people. I often go on ride – alongs with some of the Police Officers from my town and have gotten to know them pretty well. I hope that people start to change there opinion of cops as when people hold grudges and Harras them it makes there job harder when most of the time there just trying to help. Back when I was in Highschool I would skip my art class if I was caught up enough and hangout with the resource officer in his office and just talk about random stuff. Fun times. I’m so glad to be going to RCTC and majoring in criminal justice. I’m excited for what the future holds.
